The council now has until March 25 to release a report with proposed changes to FEMA’s disaster response policies.
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that extends his Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) task force for another 60 days. The task force was created on January 24, 2025, to review agency policies and create a report proposing changes to how FEMA responds to natural disasters.
President Trump stated at the time of the task force’s establishment that FEMA had “lost mission focus, diverting limited staff and resources to support missions beyond its scope and authority, spending well over a billion dollars to welcome illegal aliens.”
The president continued, “Americans deserve an immediate, effective, and impartial response to and recovery from disasters. FEMA therefore requires a full-scale review, by individuals highly experienced at effective disaster response and recovery, who shall recommend to the President improvements or structural changes to promote the national interest and enable national resilience.”
Originally set to dissolve one year from the date of its creation, this executive order extends the task force to March 25.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the members of the FEMA task force as they continue to examine the agency’s policies and propose changes to them.
- For Secretary Kristi Noem as she leads the Department of Homeland Security and oversees its agencies, including FEMA.
- For President Trump as he provides direction on updating and streamlining domestic policies and ensuring effective awarding of assistance and aid.
